Bond Over Beauty with Erika Katz’s Top Ten Beauty Resolutions for 2012

Beauty Resolution#10: Take better care of your teeth! Sip coffee and tea with a straw to avoid stains, floss after meals, and brush with whitening toothpaste.
Beauty Resolution#9: Use an earpiece when talking on your cell phone to avoid rashes and red bumps on your chin.
Beauty Resolution #8: Let brows grow in and splurge on professional threading or tweezing to get brows into tip top shape.
Beauty Resolution#7: Moisturize dry cuticles, removed chipped polish, and keep all nails one length.
Beauty Resolution#6: Throw out old crusty mascaras and liquid liners. Mascara only has a shelf life of 3 months, while liquid liner can last up to 6 months.
Beauty Resolution#5: Clean all makeup brushes with baby shampoo or alcohol, and sharpen pencils. Also, clean makeup case to keep everything neat and clean!
Beauty Resolution#4: Get more sleep to reduce puffiness and red eyes. Adults should get anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep a night.
Beauty Resolution#3: Drink more water! The average adult woman should drink at least 9 cups of water a day. How many cups have you had today?
Beauty Resolution#2: Remove all makeup and mascara before bed each night. Sleeping with your makeup on can dry out your skin, clog your pores (which leads to break outs) and can lead to premature aging.
Beauty Resolution#1: Moisturize your whole body after showers and baths with baby oil or cream. By moisturizing after a shower, your skin traps more surface moisture than if you were to apply it to totally dry skin.

Nicole Richie at the Charlotte Ronson Beauty Launch Event HAIR BY WELLA PROFESSIONALS CELEBRITY STYLIST ANDY LECOMPTE

Hair Look:
Wella Professionals Celebrity Stylist Andy Lecompte gave Nicole Richie a 1960’s-inspired fringe and high pony for Charlotte Ronson’s Beauty Launch Event for Sephora that was held in West Hollywood last night.

Credit Info:
Hair products: Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray, Stay Essential Finishing Spray, Shimmer Delight Shine Spray

Stylist: Andy Lecompte, Wella Professionals Celebrity Stylist

Step-by-Step Styling
1. To start, Andy applied Wella Professionals Thermal Image Heat Protection Spray to each section of Nicole’s already dry hair to leave hair soft, shiny and manageable before smoothing out locks with a flat iron
2. Next, Andy pulled a mo-hawk section of the hair up and away while he pulled the rest of the hair into a super high pony with two elastics at the crown of the head for extra volume
3. Release the mo-hawk section of the hair and lightly blast with a blow dryer to find a part and smooth out any kinks
4. Lightly shake out the top section of the hair to let face-framing fringe fall, then separate the remaining hair into two sections on both sides of the head
5. One at a time, wrap the sections around the pony pin one at a time and secure with hair pins to hide the elastic and give shape to the head
6. Smooth fly-aways and set the look with a light mist of Wella Professionals Stay Essential Finishing Spray
7. Add red-carpet worthy shine with Wella Professionals Shimmer Delight Shine Spray

*Shiny Hair Secret: Nicole takes excellent care of her hair with a great conditioning regimen. Boost your hair’s shine with a deep conditioner such as Wella Professionals Enrich Treatment to get instantly softer, shinier strands.

Olive Oil for Your Skin?

Ancient Egyptians understood the power of olive oil. They used it in their daily beauty regimen to keep skin, soft, supple and healthy. These days, olive oil is still just as fantastic for promoting skin health, so channel your inner Cleopatra and incorporate olive oil into your daily beauty routine.

Place just a bit of olive oil on your fingertips and dab on the corners of the eyes, eyelids and under eyes. Do this nightly, and wake up looking gorgeous and refreshed. Use olive oil to clear up acne. We know putting oil on acne doesn't sound logical but it works. Olive oil actually helps to dissolve those acne-causing oils on your face, so pores unclog more easily and skin is more clear. It's also great for smoothing out acne scars, so apply a thin layer to the face daily for glowing, gorgeous skin.

Rub a small amount of olive oil on your lips daily for increased softness and shine. The vitamin E in olive oil is incredibly moisturizing. If you're tired of lip balm and gloss, or if you're just looking for a natural option to moisturize your lips, olive oil is a good option.

Soak your feet after a long, hard day. Drop one tablespoon of olive oil into a warm foot bath and soak your tootsies for 10-15 minutes. This works especially during the colder winter months, when skin tends to dry out. So if you have dry, rough feet, try an olive oil foot bath two to three times a week.

After bathing, massage olive oil into skin instead of using lotion. It's super moisturizing, and the vitamin E contained in it helps to promote healthy skin. If you're not so sure about slicking olive oil all over your body, go to your local drug store and pick up a lotion that contains olive oil. You'll still get that great vitamin E that'll give you soft, smooth skin.

Our Favorite Lip Stains

Lipstick is great but sometimes you want something more daytime friendly. Instead of a more bold lip shade, go au naturale glam with a lip stain. Lip stains still pack a punch of color without the fuller matte finish. If you're looking for your perfect brand, you've got a ton of options. Lip stains are super trendy and every major makeup line carries them. So which ones work best? Lucky for you, there are a bevy of brands out there that'll leave you looking like you just ate a popsicle, but in a totally chic way.

Benefit BeneTint Pocket Pal

Benefit Bene Tent Pocket Pals give you a twofer. You get a rich lip stain on one end and a lip gloss on the other. It's tiny packaging makes it easy to carry around, so throw it in your favorite clutch. This fabulous kiss proof color also doubles as a cheek stain, so save some money and use it both ways!

Covergirl Outlast Lip Stain

Covergirl's lip stain goes on like a bright juicy marker and dries fast, making application fun and easy. If you're looking for a subtle flushed-lip look this is the lip stain for you. The stain comes in 10 long lasting shades so whether you want a nude stain or something a little brighter, there's a perfect color for everyone. What's best, this lip stain will last you through kisses, drinks, and everything else so apply in the morning and forget about it!

L’Oreal Color Juice Stick

Just the name makes us want to wear this one! L'Oreal Color Juice Stick smells and tastes great (just like candy) so don't be scared to pucker up while wearing it! With an easy, smooth application and glossy sheen, this moisturizing lip stain is a super wearable lipstick alternative. It keeps your lips soft and doesn't settle into fine lines, so no need to top it off with a gloss.

Our Picks for the Best Purple Lipstick

From clothing to shoes and accessories, it's all about purple. Rich purple shades are super trendy, but would you wear them on your lips? The key to rocking this look is knowing what shades work best for you. Get it right and you'll turn heads with your royally chic purple pucker.

MAC Creme de la Femme

Fair-skinned ladies, this lovely shade of purple is perfect for you. Creme de la Femme is a surprisingly natural, subtle shade of purple with soft pink undertones, which makes it totally acceptable to slick on in the morning and keep on for after-work cocktails. Undertones of shimmery gold give this gorgeous lip color a little added oomph that's sure to make your lips stand out.

DuWop Private Plum Lipstick

DuWop Private Plum goes on like magic. And we don't mean figuratively. It literally adjusts to your body chemistry, giving you a plum shade that works with your skin tone. If you need even more reason to try this shade, it's also super moisturizing so there's no need to top it off with gloss.

Dolce & Gabanna Amethyst Classic Cream Lipstick

This sultry dark shade looks amazing on darker skin tones. The rich, opaque burgundy-purple shade is super intense and very sexy on dark brown and chocolate skin. If your skin is lighter, be prepared to look super vampy and borderline gothic. If mysteriously rogue is the look you're going for, be sure to downplay eye makeup because your lips are definitely going to want to be the center of attention.

MAC Rebel

This lipstick definitely gets it's rebellious name honestly. MAC Rebel is an intense purple-y fuchsia that's only for the daring. With slight hints of berry, this lip color is best reserved for olive skin tones and darker. It'll look way to harsh on fairer skin, so if your complexion is lighter it's probably to go with something not quite so in your face. Girls who are bold enough to wear this sassy shade should keep the rest of the face simple. You'll definitely want your lips to be the main focus!

Beauty Buys: LORAC Sheer Wash

Ever bit or pinched your lips to give them a natural, rosy color? If you like that natural glow, you'll love LORAC Sheer Wash. This travel sized roll-on lip stain is cute, tiny, and easy to tote around. The stain gives your lips a natural glow that lasts all day, which means that one little bottle goes a long way.

Natalia Vodianova for Guerlain

Model Natalia Vodianova looks stunning in Guerlain's new lipstick ads. We love!

Makeup Trend: Purple Lipstick

Would you wear purple lipstick? The color has been seen all over the runways lately and is on it's way to becoming a new makeup trend. It can be a little harsh on so for those who aren't quite as daring, try a shade with pinkier undertones for a more subtle look.

Would You Wear Katy Perry's Makeup?

It's obviously over the top but since it's for a photo for her new single "E.T" will give her a pass. At the very least it's definitely interesting.

The lipsticks contain a unique Cristal Pigment that not only intensifies color but also stays put for a long lasting easy finish. The lipsticks which will be available in April and retail for $35 are available at Saks Fifth Avenue stores.

Victor & Rolf to Launch New Version of Flowerbomb

CHIC.TV loves Victor & Rolf's Flowerbomb which is why we're insanely excited that the brand is coming out with a new version of their super popular fragrance. The scent will run as a limited edition so make sure to get it before it's gone! The fragrance is described a scent that "narrates the beautiful adventure of a floral outburst on a glorious day in enchanting essences." We're not exactly sure what something like that smells like, but if it's anything like the original Flowerbomb sign us up! The scent will be available in April. Go to http://www.viktor-rolf.com/_en/_ww/flowerbomb.htm for more info.

Chloe Beauty

A subtle smokey eye on a clean face was the backstage beauty look at Chloe. Take note ladies: This is a great natural look if you're trying to step up the glam a bit for a sexy daytime appropriate face.

Monday, March 7, 2011

Nina Ricci Beauty

Barefaced beauty reigns at Paris Fashion Week. With the exception of a strong brow and pretty pink lip, makeup at Nina Ricci was fresh faced with simple hair to match, which is probably a good thing. The pieces shown truly stand for themselves and we certainly wouldn't want anything taking away from the focus of such beautiful garments.

Friday, March 4, 2011

Rihanna for Nivea

Pop princess Rihanna is the new spokesperson for Nivea, and the skin care brand is celebrating it's 100th year with ad campaign photos like this. We love the natural beauty look. Such a dramatic difference than the rock star glam look we're used to seeing on RiRi. Kinda makes us wanna go buy some Nivea products now....

Balmain Beauty

It Balmain the beauty look was very simple and clean, with a fresh face and easy loose hair. What do you think of this look? Do you like it for the runway or would you prefer a bit more glam?

Versace Backstage Beauty

It was more slicked back hair at Versace, except instead for the chignon we've been seeing, Donatella Versace opted to have hair hang straight down the back. Makeup was extremely minimal, really allowing the entire focus of the collection to be on the clothes, and with such bold colors and prints it's no wonder Versace opted for the clothes to be the primary focus.

Gucci Hair and Beauty

We seem to be spotting a beauty trend starting at New York Fashion Week and carried right on through Fashion Week in Milan. Many designers this season are going for simple, sleek, pulled back hair. We saw this again at Gucci. With the exception of the feather accentuated ponytail, the look was the same. In Gucci's case this may have had something to do needing a hairstyle that worked with all the hats that went down the runway. Nevertheless, we're guessing that pulled back hair will be the next CHIC beauty trend.

Natalie Portman for Miss Dior Cherie

We LOVE! What do you think?

Backstage Beauty at Giles

London Fashion Week is in wrapping up and we're on the hunt for the best beauty looks of the week. At the Giles show, makeup artists went for a bright red lip as the focus of the face, with little other makeup. Hair was slicked back in an elegant chignon. Tres chic indeed!

Best Backstage Hair at Fashion Week
