How To: Prevent and Repair Split Ends

We've all dealt with split ends before. If you're trying to grow your hair, or just maintain healthy hair it's important to try to prevent split ends. So what are the best ways to do this? We've got some great tips on prevention and repair!
To prevent split ends:
1) Try to put heat on hair only when necessary. After washing your hair, air dry it, and try not to pull out the curling irons and flat irons more than needed.
2) Don't brush your hair too much! Brushing is great but excess brushing can lead to split ends.
3) Splurge on good quality hair styling products. There's generally a reason they're more expensive. The money you spend on products will be saved in less trips to the salon for trims.
4) Have hair trimmed when needed. Don't wait! And be sure to trim hair with good quality scissors.
If you already have split ends and want to improve the appearance of hair:
1) Shampoo hair and deep condition with good quality conditioner. Be sure to leave conditioner on hair for at least 20 minutes.
2) A moisturizing or smoothing serum may help. Apply a dime sized amount to hair and work throughout.
3) When drying hair, make sure hair is completely dried so it doesn't frizz. This makes split ends more noticeable.
4) Be sure to visit your hair stylist as soon as possible for a trim! We know trims can be scary, but they're necessary to maintain healthy hair.

How To: Tame Frizzy Hair

Need to tame unruly hair? We've got your solution!
1) Wash hair and make sure to use conditioner.
2) Let conditioner sit for at least 15 minutes.
3) For a really deep condition apply a shower cap and sit under a hot dryer for 30 minutes.
4) Apply anti-frizz serum (you can find this at any drug store). Be sure to apply only a dime sized amount and distribute evenly throughout hair.
5) Blow dry hair thoroughly.
6) Invest in a good flat iron. This may be a financial investment, but it's well worth it. We suggest an ionic iron as it is a bit healthier for the hair but at the very least be sure that you use a ceramic iron.
7) Press hair throughout with flat iron. This may be time consuming, but is best to do in section as it will be more effective.
Follow these steps and you'll be sure to have smoother, much easier to manage hair!

Step 2: To give your curls an easy-breezy vibe, curl 2" sections with a 3/4" curling iron, then run your fingers through the curls to soften them. Do this all over.

Step 3: Layer on the headbands: Place one at the hairline, then layer in three or four more above that. To hold the headbands in place, insert a couple of bobby pins on both sides behind ears.

Hair Tips: Pigtails
Create soft waves with a large-barrel curling iron, then make a center part and split hair into two sections. Start to weave each into a braid behind the ear, then secure with an elastic two inches down and wrap a piece of hair around it.

Dying Grey Hair
The natural reaction to the appearance of grey hair is to reach for the hair dye.
However, you must choose your colour carefully to avoid looking frightful.
Full on black, blonde or red hair does not look natural on mature women.
As harsh as it may sound, older ladies simply no longer have the youthful face to carry off strong colours.
So if you're unwilling to grow old the way nature intended (i.e. letting your grey hair come through), use subtle shades of colour to compliment your experienced face.
